Sei-ki: Renewal & Surrender
July 22 - July 24£280
Sei-ki is radical bodywork, connecting to flow. This workshop will focus on renewal through letting go of meaning structures and meeting ourselves and each other afresh. We do this through no-agenda touch, exercises to develop sensitivity, solo and partnered Surrenderwork, sharing and discussion.
The workshop is open to anyone interested in this approach. Many attendees have bodywork backgrounds, particular Shiatsu, but we welcome those who are interested in this approach, whatever background they come from. Sei-ki touch is taking human connection right back to basics; children have sometimes joined workshops. Not knowing anything can sometimes be an advantage.
Learning this art is a training in sensitivity, in broadening the awareness so that we can appreciate how a person really is and not interfere. Learning to surrender and recognise someone without trying to change them is harder for most of us than learning to do something and perform a technique.
This workshop will include the basics of Sei-ki touch for the beginner and experienced practitioner, Surrender Practice with preparatory exercises for self and partnered practice; demonstrations; instruction; discussion and lots of practice. You will be relaxed, challenged and perhaps find a new home in this welcoming community.
Alice Whieldon has worked in this field for over 30 years, is co-author Sei-ki: Life in Resonance (2011) with Kishi Akinobu and is author of Mind Clearing: the key to mindfulness mastery (2016). Her workshops are a great venue to discover and develop Sei-ki for personal or professional development. With a strong academic background and many years teaching in the humanities, Alice is expert at explaining this work in ways people find useful.
This workshop is open to anyone interested in Sei-ki. You will need to be able to sit and work at floor level and should wear comfortable clothes that cover arms and legs.
Norwich is in East Anglia, easily accessible by rail from London (2 hours) or from Norwich Airport (flights to the Netherlands in particular). Meals and accommodation are not included. The Wellbeing Centre is in the heart of the city.
